Color, Texture & Movement -- The Art of Rose DudekDuring June, the Barton County Arts Council is featuring the paintings of Rose Dudek, Great Bend. Rose has also asked another Great Bend artist, Paul Martin, to display some of his ceramic pieces with her paintings. A reception will be held Sunday afternoon, June 13th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the Arts Center. Refreshments will be served and the public is encouraged to attend. Rose is a member of both the Barton County and Hutchinson Arts Councils. She has exhibited regionally and nationally, winning a number of awards in various juried shows. Regional shows have included the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson, Sterling, Dodge City and R.O.A.R. in Russell. Her works have been accepted for national shows in Chicago, the Moss Thorns Gallery in Hays, the El Dorado national juried show and in Minnesota. "I love to create directly on the canvas," Rose says about her oil paintings. "My work is somewhat Impressionistic, yet it renders a great deal of expressiveness. My figurative pieces are rather primitive, yet imaginative. Color, texture and movement fascinate me." Open from 1:00 to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, the Councils Arts Center is located in the heart of downtown Great Bend at 1401 Main Street. Admission is free and a variety of artworks consigned by regional artists are always on display and available for purchase. This program is presented in part by the Kansas Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
