Local grade school teacher, Jami Reed, was chosen for national recognition as nominee for Poet of the Year. She would need money to make the trip to Washington, D.C. to receive her recognition. The annual Great Bend Sidewalk Sale on July 27, 2002 promised to draw a crowd to our downtown location, so Chuck & Char Brown suggested we allow her friends to use our sidewalk for bake sale goods.
