The Lost Films of Oscar Micheaux

About Eric Monder
Eric Monder is a documentary filmmaker who completed his first film, Sarah Of The Artef, in 1987. In 1991 he won the National Easter Seal's EDI Broadcast Achievement Award for an episode of the radio show, Strengthening Families (WNYE-FM). Mr. Monder has written several feature-length screenplays, and he is currently producing, directing and writing two documentary television series with his wife, Kathi Patterson.

Mr. Monder has also written a book about a Hollywood film director, George Sidney (Greenwood Press, 1994), and writes for several publications, including Film Journal International (filmjournal.com) and Magills Cinema Guide. Mr. Monder's other writings have appeared in The New York Times, Film Comment, The Directors Guild Magazine, and American National Biography (Oxford University Press, 1999). Mr. Monder has lectured on film and produced events at the Museum of Modern Art, Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater, and the Eastman Kodak Company.

Mr. Monder served for several years as a judge of the documentary film category at the New York Festival Awards. He attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts, receiving his BFA in Cinema Studies in 1986.
