The redbuds on Broadway

If you take Broadway for the two mile trip from downtown to the cemetery, you'll travel a mile-long boulevard of redbud trees. With any luck, the redbuds will be starting to bloom at the time of the Micheaux Festival.

These trees were planted in the late 1940's as a civic beautification project by the Great Bend Noon Lions Club. They would have been very young trees at the time of Micheaux' burial.
