Associate Professor John Edgar Tidwell, Ph.D. (Minnesota) teaches African American and American literatures at the University of Kansas. Editor of two books written by Frank Marshall Davis: Livin' the Blues: Memoirs of a Black Journalist and Poet (1992) and Black Moods: Collected Poems (2002). Currently, he's at work on a biography of poet Sterling A. Brown, tentatively entitled Oh, Didn't He Ramble: A Life of Sterling A. Brown. He has served as a resident scholar for the Kansas Humanities Council and as Langston Hughes Visiting Professor (1994).
