Amy H. Kirschke (Loyola [Louisiana], B.A.; Tulane University, M.A., Ph.D.) specializes in African American art, African art, and nineteenth century European art. Her recent publications include her book, Aaron Douglas: Art, Race and the Harlem Renaissance, and articles that have appeared in The International Journal of African American Art, The Encyclopedia of Southern Culture, and The Southern Quarterly. She recently worked on a book on African American political cartoonists, which was published by Indiana University Press in 2004.
