Karla Burns has performed in the Paris Opera, Teatro Real in Madrid, Cairo Opera, Carnegie Hall and Broadway. She has also appeared on television including "One of a Kind," "The Comedy of Errors," and "The Parade." Her recordings with RCA and EMI include "Songs of New York," "Show Boat," and "Karla Burns and Earnest Alexander, A Christmas Celebration."

Karla was nominated for an Tony Award for her portrayal of Queenie in the Broadway Show "Showboat." Karla does an impersonation of fellow Wichita-native Hattie McDaniel, the first African-American to win an Oscar, for her role in "Gone With the Wind." Karla's one-woman show is called "Hi-Hat Hattie."
