Another Micheaux biographer, Betty VanEpps-Taylor, was scheduled to attend the festival, but had to cancel due to the death of her father just before the festival.

Dave Strain, of Dakota West Books (her publisher) did attend our festival and took the podium to invite those attending to attend the annual Micheaux event in Gregory, South Dakota.

Strain has also been responsible for republishing Micheaux' novels.
