About Jane Gaines
Professor Jane Gaines of Duke University attended the event. Professor Gaines is an expert on the African-American cinema and is a founder of the Oscar Micheaux Society. Professor Gaines' presentation was about Noble Johnson, a Lincoln, Nebraska native who made "race movies" and who was a contemporary of Oscar Micheaux. Johnson also was a character actor who played roles in dozens of Hollywood features, including the role of a zombie in numerous horror films.
